Background
The solution was created on a Manchester city centre residential scheme during October 2003 where “naked” trestles were initially utilised. Work was stopped until a safe system of work was established between the main contractor and trades contractor. The initial solution spawned the invention. The idea was fabricated and the initial prototype was safely deployed over a four month period, without any incidents and no delays waiting for scaffolders - the solution proved to be very cost effective.
The experience on site together with feedback from various safety organisations helped to create a simple to use, economical and yet safety-compliant access platform that the tradesman himself could use without the need for special tools or 3rd parties.
